Would You Enjoy Heaven? Philippians 3:20 I. Introduction. A. Men enjoy many different pursuits, places, and experiences in this life. 1. There are many ways to enjoy the earth. 2. We enjoy: a. Families, friends, occupation, leisure activities, etc. b. Much joy can be claimed(and does) by mankind on this earth. c. It is not wrong for Christians to have joy. B. Men make sacrifices in order to enjoy this life. 1. How much effort and funds are expended for a few moments of pleasure(joy)? 2. Disciples of Christ find it is a pleasure and joy to serve the Lord. 3. The faithful look forward to the joy of heaven. 4. Christians believe: Philippians 3:20. II. Body. A. What is heaven like? 1. Spiritual state--a place of joy: Luke 15:7. 2. No night there: Revelation 22:5. 3. A place of rest: Hebrews 4:10. 4. Where God is praised: Revelation 4:11. 5. Worship takes place: Revelation 7:11. 6. Where there are mansions: John 14:2-3. 7. Will you enjoy heaven? a. Do you like to worship the Lord? b. Do you enjoy being at services as often as possible? c. Would you like heaven? B. Who is in heaven(and will be)? 1. The residence of Jehovah: Matthew 5:16. 2. Christ will be there: Mark 16:19. 3. You will find Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob: Matthew 8:11. 4. Angels are present: Mark 12:25. 5. You will find the saved of all ages: a. Saints of ancient times and modern. b. Martyrs, prophets, apostles, etc. c. All of these: Luke 10:20. d. Those who are not capable of understanding: II Samuel 12:23. e. Those who have suffered for righteousness (Lazarus: Luke 16:20-25). f. Would you like to be with them in Heaven? 6. Would you be comfortable with all of these saved? a. Do you like being with disciples as much as possible? b. Do you make an effort to worship the Lord at every opportunity? Do you look forward to being with the saints? c. Do you sing, pray and study with the fervor that characterizes those who love the Lord? d. Are you happy with the truth and the life of a Christian? d. Would you like to be in an eternal place where worship and praise is the norm? e. Whether I would like to be in Heaven is decided by my attitude toward serving the Lord on this earth. III. Conclusion. A. Heaven is the great reward for serving Jehovah: Luke 6:23. B.
