I Saw a Swan

As I walked around the waterfront on a morning stroll in spring,
I heard a beautiful sound as though it were an angel sing.

And as I peered to the steaming water on this majestic dawn,
My eyes caught a single glimpse of a white graceful Swan.

As white as snow it was, the most beautiful thing I had ever seen,
Its elegance surpassed everything imagined in any dream.

So stopping in my tracks I watched the Swan in a powerful dazing stare,
And I quietly sat upon a rock to listen to its gentle voice fill the peaceful air.

And as I watched, something occurred which I never thought I'd see,
The Swan came to the water's edge and changed into a Princess in front of me.

Oh how beautiful she was with her glistening locks of golden brown,
And in a second I fell in love with the fairest Princess who ever wore a crown.

And there by the crystal water, we sat and talked away the day,
Until dusk fell upon us, and she said "I am sorry, but I can no longer stay."

Oh what deepened sorrow was expressed to one another as we viewed eye to eye,
And with a tender little kiss, we each said a saddened good-bye.

As she stepped away I asked,"Will we meet again, or is this forever we must part?"
She replied,"We shall always be together, for to see me just look within your heart."

So as I looked within I saw her words were true, and in my heart she'll stay forevermore,
For she shall always be with me, no matter where she flies or soars.
