In Your Leave

Absence is said to make the heart grow fonder,
Yet in your leave, only loneliness and gloom build stronger.

And how can a heart be fonder of any, as you are to mine,
For you illuminate my days beyond the sun's shine.

You fill my dreams with the greatest warmth and care,
Without your words, only wishes of your presence do I bare.

And as we are unable to enjoy the simple pleasure bound in one's company,
My heart is far from whole, and denied even the smallest tranquility.

So as this lonely absence grows with a passing day and days on end,
My heart fills with gloom til the hour when our souls be one again.
