Ebola Zaire

Ebola Zaire is the deadliest of the filovirus family. It first emerged in Zaire in 1976 and with subsequent outbreak of Ebola Sudan, killed over 340 people out of the 550, re-emergence of Ebola Zaire have occurred in 1977(in Zaire), 1994 (in Gabon),1995 (in Zaire),and 1996(in Gabon). Ebola Zaire is contagious to humans, monkeys, and primates, and is very lethal.

Nine in ten infected people die from Ebola Zaire, giving it a staggering 90% mortality rate. This deadly contagion is very similar to all other forms of filoviruses, but it's genetic variations increase it's lethality. Ebola Zaire often appears like a long thread with a club end. The background of this homepage is an electron miographed image of Ebola. All four strains of Ebola appear similiar under electron miograph, and only the trained specialist can differentiate them as well as with Marburg.

Ebola Zaire is believed to travel in only infected bodily fluids. While there is no confirmed evidence of Ebola Zaire, Ebola Sudan, or Ebola Tai in humans, control monkeys across the room from Ebola Zaire infected monkeys developed Ebola Zaire.

Can Ebola become airborne?

Virologist believe that Ebola can be transmitted by aerosolized particles which is believed to be the case with the control monkeys. Mist from the maintenance of the cages aerosolized and picked up virus particles which were then able to journey across the room and infect the control monkeys by inhalation.

If Ebola can be carried in water mist, can it be carried in the saliva and mucous mist in a sneeze of an infected person?

That question is yet to be answered, and the public community will be sitting on the edge of their seats until it is.

The natural host of Ebola Zaire is unknown and all attempts to find this carrier have failed. All attempts to create a vaccine thus far have failed as well. So much mystery and unanswered questions surround Ebola Zaire, and other forms. And yet one thing is certainly clear, they are truly a slate wiper of all primate species it comes in contact with.
