I am but a drifting log
Upon a river I know not
Oblivious to the churning current
Are my dreams, my wants
My cares.
No kind souls to come
No aid nor rescue in sight
Only splashing and swirling
With swift glimpses of
Eroding banks.
Only hope remains afloat
Fatigue has long set in
A galliant fight to reach ashore
But the tow too strong for one's
Empty heart to bare.
And as I pass the mouth
Of this River of Love
Out into the Sea of Loneliness
To drift day and day again
Alone.
