The Femmes are a Wisconsin based punk rock band like no other. Just the concept of Wisconsin-based punk is odd enough in of itself. Their music is not the typical hard-core fuck-the-world music some may associate with with word "punk"; indeed, Gordon's strong religious beliefs (he's a devout Baptist) show through in much of his music. But don't be fooled: the Femmes are a hard-core band, and they let you know it. They have produced over the years a wide variety of music, and despite their emmense success have never sold out to the mainstream. In my opinion, hey are one of the most talented and interesting bands out there.
