chapter 7 in progress 7. BALANCE BALANCE IS A STATE OF EQUILIBRIUM; OR BEING CENTERED, AS IN STANDING OVER THE CENTER OR MIDPOINT OF A SEE SAW. LIFE IS VERY MUCH LIKE A SEE SAW; SOMETIMES YOU'RE UP, SOMETIMES YOU'RE DOWN AND YOU HAVE ALMOST NO CONTROL OVER WHICH POSITION YOU ARE IN. HOWEVER, I BELIEVE YOU DO HAVE CONTROL OVER YOUR MENTAL ATTITUDE. I HAVE A FRIEND WHO IS VERY IN TOUCH WITH HER EMOTIONS; UNFORTUNATELY SHE ALLOWS HERSELF TO BE RULED BY THEM. I HAVE ANOTHER FRIEND WHO IS VERY INTELLECTUAL BUT, HE NEVER IS AWARE OF HIS FEELINGS; NEITHER OF THESE PEOPLE HAS BALANCE. THUS IS THE REASON FOR THE ARGUMENT BETWEEN JUST SENTIMENTALITY AND JUST RATIONALITY, WHAT I THINK WE NEED IS TO BE AWARE OF OUR FEELINGS, AND GIVE THEM THEIR DUE, BUT NOT ALLOW THEM TO OVERCOME OUR RATIONAL THOUGHT. AWARENESS OF OUR EMOTIONS IS IMPORTANT, THAT'S HOW YOU FEEL ABOUT THINGS BUT THE TROUBLE FOR ME IS NOT JUST RELYING ON THEM ALL THE TIME TO MAKE JUDGEMENTS BUT TEMPERING THEM WITH RATIONAL THOUGHT. IT'S LIKE MAKING LEMONADE, YOU NEED LEMON JUICE BUT YOU NEED WATER TOO. IN BALANCED LIVING, ONE TENDS TO WATER DOWN THE OTHERS IMPORTANCE, WE SHOULD ONLY LIVE ON THE BALANCED MIX OF THE TWO. THE SAME ARGUMENT CAN BE SAID FOR BALANCE BETWEEN THE SPIRITUAL AND PHYSICAL NATURES OR ASPECTS OF OURSELVES.
