Vocabulary
Three vocabulary words will be given each day. Learn the definition, spelling, and part of speech of all words and be able to use them correctly in a sentence. Tests are given every other Thursday, and you must know all words from the beginning of the year for all tests until the end of the year (words are cumulative). A final vocabulary test will be given, and will count for a portion of the final exam.
Quotations
One quotation will be given each week. Learn the quotation, its author, and its source. A quotation test will be given every other Friday. These quotations are cumulative throughout the course. A quotation final will be part of your final examination.
Grammar
Grammar ideas will be reviewed through your essays. Grammar quizzes, workshops, correction grades, and grammar files will be used to facilitate your mastery.
Journals
Journals will be written in each day at the beginning of class. You are to date each entry and write the topic at the top of the page. You have to write a full page (top to bottom, left to right) each day. In this journal, you are writing about your thoughts and experiences for this semester which you will use to write one of your final essays for the course.
