Dear friends, I guess every one had heard about the movie titanic and many had watched it more then one time.. ofcourse that movie had brought to the memory the great loss of 1500+ souls in one night.. I was really shocked by the story, but what really got me when I read more about the titanic, the cause of it’s sinking the unsinkable ship sank helplessly and not only that it sank but it also took so many lives down with it. So lets go on a tour on board the very short live of the RMS Titanic.

Titanic was built in northern Ireland with a cost of 13 Million dollars, in the beginning of this century and with the introduction of all the new technologies that was used to build it every one sought that this ship is the ultimatum power it is the gigantic ship that is unsinkable, man started to drawl in his invention reminding my by the tower of Babble, in the old testament when the people built a huge tower to the ski thinking that they will be much saver and that no one on the earth can attack them but unfortunately the great titanic meet with the same fate as the babble tower...

So lets see what was the main reasons for the sinking of this ship?

and what can we learn from that?!

1. Over-confidence & Self-exaltation.

2. Disregarding & Over looking.
3. Material it’s made of.
4. Navigator’s false.
5. Not enough life boats.
6. Small crack sank that great ship.
7. Selfishness.

1. Over-Confidence & Self-exaltation:

People heard Cpt. Smith saying "Even if God wanted to sink this ship, it won't sink" what a statement! does that remind you with something from the bible? I guess one should remember Satan words from Isaiah 14:14 "I will ascend above the tops of the clouds; I will make myself like the most high." also later in Isaiah 47:10 "You have trusted in your wickedness, when you said, 'I am, and there is none beside me' the fate is "disaster will come upon you and you will not know how to condure it away."

Oh Lord, this can't be the fate of a great invention, we worked so hard to make it, it is a piece of beauty, complete in every thing, we had built it with all our knowledge. Why? Why did it sink?

Here comes the word of God, "In the pride of your heart you say, "I am a God; I sit on the throne of God in the heart of the seas" but you are a man not a God, though you think that you are as wise as god .... "I am going to bring foreigners against you, they will bring you down to the pit..." EZK 28:1-10

So friend, don't you think that the pride of the builders of this ship, the owner and the captain is one of the main reasons for it fate, now what would you say for yourself, are you a proud of who you are, or do you think that you are better than other, think and answer if you say that you are weak and in need for gods salvation and help, you are in the right way, remember that Jesus himself gave us a great example of humbleness, he had no house, the was going around doing good, ask Jesus to come to you heart today ask him to give you the strength not to fall in the biggest temptation of our world which is ME, tell Satan stay away from me Satan, escape for your life, so you can win your eternity.

2. Disregarding & Over looking:

Many warnings had came to the titanic about the presence of icebergs in its path, but every one had taken these warnings as a grain of salt never paid any attention to them, and when the have it was to late to react.

Many of us hear the word of god in occasions, hear about the Christ who gave himself in the cross for us, and when you ask them are you ready for commitment? are you ready to give your life for Christ? the time is now to repent and ask for forgiveness, and the answer you usually get is not now I am to young, I still have the whole life to live and enjoy, don't you ask me now to give all this just to be with Jesus, may be later.!! but I here Jesus say "You fool! this very night your life will be demanded from you" Luke 12:20 also we hear "The widow who lives in pleasure is dead even while she lives" 1Ti 5:6.

Read the bible, believe in eternity ask Jesus to help you get in the other side save, don't ignore his calling he is on you door knocking if you open the door he will come in and have diner with you, he will come in and bless your home, life and work, so don't delay more than that, do it, do it now.

3. It's Material:

Scientists who examined the remaining of the titanic found an astonishing discovery, that its great ship wasn't made from pure steel, but there was lots of zinc in its material that made it so brittle under icy cold conditions, as one of the titanic survivors describe "there were loud noises coming from the ship, noises that resembles breaking glass." which is true because as the ship bottom got very cold, it started to crack on its own. The great ship sank its own, that's new for us.

But what do you think of the people that sink them selves every day in world materials, and when the temptation come they fall badly, because they are not prepared.

In the Parable of the Ten Virgins, Jesus said "The virgins who were ready went in with him to the wedding banquet. And the door was shut. .... Therefore keep watch, because you do not know the day or the hour." Mat. 25:1-13. So get up now, ask Jesus to be with you, kneel and pray for forgiveness, like Jesus said "ask and you will be answered" Jesus want your heart, give it to him as well as all your life. Prepare your self to be like the seeds that fell on the good soil, that gave its fruit in its time.

4. Navigator's Fault:

When the night crew of the ship navigators went to start their ship, they didn't bring their binocular with them, depending on the previous shift ones. But to their surprise the day shift had no need for binoculars and they watched the ship sailing not aware of the danger that is waiting for them in the dark of the night. By the time they noticed the iceberg it was too near -about a quarter of a mile distance- by their eyes, which added more to the disaster, it was so hard them to manipulate this huge ship in such a short distance..

Now, How many time do we depend in other people for our success?, how many time do we ask people to pray for us? without us being part in the prayer. how do you expect God to answer others prayers for you and you aren't working with GOD.. My friend, God is waiting but he want you to work your way to him, don't depend on any one for your salvation, he is waiting answer him NOW...

Say, Dear God how many time you wanted me to come to you and I refused, I always find many excuses not to come to you, either work, studying, family affairs, ......etc. It looks like every thing else is more important than you! But Lord I hear Solomon saying "Utterly Vanity (meaningless) everything is Vanity" Ecc. 1:1 So what would I gain if the win the whole world and loss my soul, Nothing. Help me lord to depend on you and you only will show me the way to your House where I'll see what the eyes never saw and the ear never heard, what you have prepared to the lover of your name.

5. Not enough life boats:

Yet another shocking thing you hear about the Titanic, the great ship didn't have enough life boat, and when you ask why?

You get shocking answers:

  1. They never thought that this ship would be damaged.
  2. They left only sixteen boats, so they could create a better view for the first class passengers.
  3. More space is good to add more passengers.

Again same thinking, nothing could damage this ship, let us use the space for more passengers and get a greater view for first classers so we can charge them more money. The owner of the great ship showed a great example of covetousness, lets make more money!

Now if we aren't self sufficient of what we have, and always looking to get more, nothing is enough, we will be chasing mirage. Losing our souls and the souls of others with us is the worse thing that can happen. Look at the TITANIC, learn from its disaster, act as if today is your last day and tomorrow you will be in the presence of the all mighty, what do you think?

6. The small crack that sank the great ship:

Another scientific discovery from the wreckage of the infamous Titanic, the cracks in the bottom of the great ship are so small, but they caused a great damage.

Some times when we look at ourselves we find that we are much better than others, we go to church, we have communion, we teach in Sunday school, we are faithful at work, but deep inside we now that the picture is not complete, there is something missing. Or may be there is a little sin that we can't get ride of but what is this little fault among or the good things I do. Well, Jesus said to us you can't alter an old dress with new materials, because one will ruin the other. again, any small sin starts as a small thought that fertile to a sin then grow as a bigger sin that lead to death.

Protect your self against the small wolfs, Satan start with you in the smallest way then he grows with you, close your door from the beginning don't let him in, Give your heart completely to the savior and he is well capable to free you from Satan.

8. Selfishness:

The life boats were designed to carry around seventy passengers, but the first few boats left the Titanic with as little as twelve passengers only. When I asked why? the answer was also shocking, they wanted the first classers to be comfortable, well they paid more money to go on board the titanic, so they thought of their own welfare at the expense of or in disregard of others.

Jesus main aim in his life on earth was to help others,we found him curing the sick, sharing happiness in a wedding, welcoming children in his presence, answering questions about the kingdom of god, the prince of peace had set to us a great example of giving, and humbleness.. to the extend that he gave his own self on the cross to win us back from the original sin..

Dear friend; finally I would like to say, Titanic sinking was really a disaster, but we should learn from it a great lesson that God has to be the center of our lives with him we are every thing.
