Diana

Piers Clement

My presence in UK exactly on the weekend of the funeral of Princess Diana was quite coincidental and prearranged, and i spent the entire time some 240 miles away from all the action - nonetheless i had a very strong feeling of being in some way a part of this celebration - not an idle word choice for this was no ordinary funeral but a celebration of the life of the Princess, and a remarkable illustration of the way Spirit, combined with something equally mysterious called the will of the people, can move things in a direction in which at the beginning the "powers that be" seemed unwilling to want it to go. What we were left with was a tremendous uniformity of feeling, not only among the usual Royal supporters but over the whole country - a triumph of intuitive and spiritual values over rigid protocols and authoritarian power structures - a desire on the part of everyone who witnessed the event to go further and lead a better, more compassionate, more ethical life. One wonders if there is any such thing as an accident, or if it is all part of a great cosmic plan in which a massive, violent deed was needed to produce a massive, violent effect, a sacrifice had to be made to help humanity over the last obstacles of its own materialism and egoism and thus prepare for the next phase of our development which we are assured will take place.

Or is that reading too much into it? Anyway it was a unique and memorable event.
