It came in the mail today . . .
An invitation to look back,
To explore those darkened recesses
In my mind.

An older me holds a candle aloft
Flickering brightly, then dimly
As I seek to find anew
Dust-covered, buried memories
And in them rediscover
A younger me.

Illusive names
Vague recollections
Time past --
Thoughts I believed were
Gone and forgotten
Yet, not quite . . .

Slowly, the memories
Flicker in my mind's eye --
Some brightly, some still dim,
But there
Waiting to be explored,
Relived -- as I attempt
To recall forgotten youth.
