You and I

by Jennifer Graham (16)

We are the same person, you and I.
Even though we are different, we are alike in so many ways.
The things that I feel, I know you feel them, too.
I can look into your eyes and see exactly what I am thinking.
When I am hurt, your eyes are clouded
With pain for me and for yourself.
Because we are the same person, you and I.
When I am happy, your eyes shine
With happiness reflected from me to you.
It is amazing how we are so alike.
Behind our confident facades, we are both shy and quiet.
Wondering and watching as the world goes by.
It travels in an orbit of which we are the center.
The insanity and cruelty of the spinning world travels around us.
But we are stable and solid, you and I.
We are the same person.
Us.
You and I.
