Uses and Excuses

by Carlie Wardell (13)

Black tears and childish fears,

pieces of the reasons frozen in the ice of your eyes
Uses and excuses falling hard on the floor.
bubble baths and a chardonnay
beautiful whispers lost in the mist
And the hallow of my pleading beats me up inside.
Lightning deep within my soul
The lies come back in fighting armies.
And happiness is like an outlaw driven away from my heart
Broken lives and promises
hold back, stand up, and watch.
Life is like an ocean changing in the wind.
Fighting for the good times they didn't last that long.
And your Uses and Excuses are killing me
Falling hard on the floor.
