Torn

by Amanda Proctor (15)

The never-ending battle between good and bad,
Each side wrestling over my soul.
Pros and cons weighed out on a scale.
A wrenching war in my mind.

Each step closer to one step,
Two steps further from the other.
Discovering a new challenge, a decision.
To decide to follow or stay.

No one would believe in justice,
This I begged to quiet the quarrel.
To decide, is to kill part of me.
Straddling on the fence is where I want to stay.

Wanting to go to that side, yet,
Knowing my soul would half die if I did.
Damn decisions! A lose, lose compromise.
No longer an option, no longer a choice.

Tempt the hand of fate, I say.
Though what is in store may not be right.
Choose the side you want with care,
As you move onto a new life.
