Today is the Day

by Lindsay Hidy (14)

Looking into my soul I realize my love for you is out of control.
Looking into your eyes I see the passion that you see in me,
there like a mirror deep inside I know the love I feel from you is only my love reflecting back.
Remembering all the tears I shed and all the memories we threaded.
The lies you have told and the way I have been fooled.
Do you remember the day you said forever, but what you meant is never.
Do you remember the day you looked me in the eyes then lied?
I shed one last stinging tear, and block out the words you are saying
because you know that is what I want to hear.
I stand up to you one last time, look you straight in the eye.
I fight back the angry words, the tears, because for once I am being bold.
I am no longer going to be taken for a fool.
I am no longer letting you control my life.
Today is the day I get the last word.
Today is the day I will be heard.
Today is the day I get back my heart that you stole.
Today is the day I get back my life, and stand up for what I believe is right.
