A great big ship came to Southhampton one day,
Many people came aboad and their farewells they did say.
"Hope to see you soon!" they would all shout,
None of them were ever in doubt.
As the ship departed from the pier,
Many of the passengers wiped a longing tear.
The engines were started and all seemed well,
Everyone seemed to be under a joyous spell.
For the first few days everything went great,
That they would make it early is what they did state.
Faster and faster they wanted to go,
They did not want to think about going too slow.
Off in the distance a great barrier stood,
If they went to fast they would hit it for good.
Nobody knew that is was standing there,
Many had shouted, "Beware, beware!"
Two people on lookout did see a large thing,
The cold arctic air their face it did sting.
A while it took till they figured it out,
A great iceberg is what they did shout.
But it was too late and the boat it did hit,
Only the workers were the ones with the fit.
A rumble was felt throughout the boat,
All that anybody did was continue to gloat.
Children aboard saw the ice on the top deck,
Kicking around every last speck.
The captain was told that the boat hit the ice,
About warning the passengers, he didn't think twice.
Many people refused as the water rushed in,
To put on their life vests as the sinking was to begin.
While others listened and started to panic,
A band began to play happy music aboard the great Titanic.
More and more water came in from up north,
People began running, back and forth.
Titanic started to tilt up towards the dark sky,
Many were asking themselves, "Why me God? Why?"
So much of the water was filling the boat,
The ship could no longer stay afloat.
To release the pressure Titanic broke down the middle,
Titanic was beginning to get quite little.
As the Titanic broke,
Nobody even spoke.
On the people below it crashed,
Everyone screamed as they were smashed.
As all this was happening life boats were being filled,
Some of the people were still being killed.
Most of the boats were only filled half way,
On the Titanic nobody wanted to stay.
Passengers in lifeboats watched the boat sink,
Will we be saved they did think.
Watching fellow travelers fall off the boat,
Feeling their pain, now they did not gloat.
As the ship was on its way to it's permanent shrine,
Rescue boats listened for a very faint whine.
Many afloat had frozen to their doom,
They had not know that the big boat would bring doom.
Now as we remember this horrific day,
We must remember those that died in dismay.
The courage of many will never be forgot,
Many died at the fate of a shot.
