The Key

by Malinda Button (14)

The door remains shut,
locked from my reach.

I try to find the key,
but it's nowhere in this vast sea of nothingess.

My hope dies.
I cry.

As it grows dark,
I lay down to sleep.

Before my eyes fail to close,
in that glimmer of unawareness.
The Key is there.
