Walking down the street alone,
Heads nodded, smiles exchanged
But do we really know these strangers?
Out of politeness the smile,
But is there a motive behind it?
Do they imagine a different scenario?
A scenario in which they could
Kill you, rape you, strangle you,
Bind you, molest you, rob you.
Do they think this behind their smiles?
A devilish delight for them.
Imagined terror for you.
You inch away, isolating yourself.
So no one can come near you.
You think that, now, no strangers can harm you.
