Sonnet II

by Dennis Donovan (16)

The crisp, nightly spring breeze
that blows the drapes and cools the face,
its memories will bring mortals to their knees,
hoping and praying that they may return to that place.

The bright, twinkling summer star,
when shooting it puts the world in awe,
all men alive will send their wish so far,
wondering if they’ll get the love they saw.

The dark, heavy autumn clouds
covering the almighty one who sits on high,
he receives the stars and breeze through all the shrouds,
finds the most sincere and makes a reply.

The senders think that if they believe
in the power, it will not deceive.
