Reaching for the Sun

by Tara Kerrin (15)

Unexpressed emotion
Racing thought
What am I to do with these?
Keep them,
Or throw them out
For the world to see
And hear?
So many questions
So many ways.
The possibilities are endless.
Like the top
Of a beautiful Baobob tree.
Branches entwined
Like the roots below.
None knowing or caring
Where the others go.
Sooner or later
They reach the sun.
I await that time,
With a grin on my face,
Hiding all that I cannot tell
When the branches of my mind
Reach the sun and are finally free!
