Overcome
by Lynette Mong (13)
Your face is not the face that I am used to seeing
How can you stand there so tall and so proud?
You are not the person you are used to being
Before, you always stood below the crowd.
Life was always so unfair to you
It's hard to believe you're still here.
I never really thought you would see it through
How could you stand up and face your fear?
If you can find the courage to face the world once more
If you can be one of the surviving few.
If you can find the path you were traveling before
Then maybe I can, too.
