Oblivion

by Ashley Toher (16)

There's a cloudburst inside
as the arrows wizz on by
and the fire for the dance
is drenched in tears.
The single bird protests
but its wings have come
undone-it wants
to be saved but it asks
no one.
Can you gather all the
feathers scattered
through my heart
or will they flutter
through the holes
into oblivion.
And will my eyes
ever eminate the
rays yours do?
Or will they too
remain clouded,
forever storming.
There's a cloudburst inside
as the arrows wizz on by
and the fire for the dance
is drenched in tears.
Because the daisies won't
blossom and the pansies
won't bloom,
while the
old gnarled vine stakes its
claim.
How can anything survive
in a climate like this
where black holes will
take its prey
into oblivion.
There's a cloudburst inside
as the arrows wizz on by are scattered in the wind.
