Mommy

by Maureen Rose (17)

I remember my mother
in her death bed
with tears in her eyes
I kissed her goodbye
not knowing how to be strong
I held her tight
while sitting at her side
she told me to be a good girl
Now as I look up to the sky
and try to see heaven
saying to my mother
I am sorry mommy
I have failed you
couldn't be strong for you and be a good girl
just can't find it in me
I need you by myside right now
all alone I can't stay this way
so hard to be alive with you gone
my backbone
my guardian angel that is what you were
I love you mommy wherever you are
can't wait until you are by my side
holding you tight
with me is where you belong
