Life to Me

by Kate Parker (12)

Our life as we know it will indeed come to an end,
Yet new surprises still are around the bend.
We live in a world of mystery and hope,
Full of people who love to laugh, yet mope.

Love and friendship is what we live everyday,
We hope that they will always stay.
Our passions may differ in more ways than one,
Yet when we do right, we feel we have won.

Anger and hate surround us all day,
Although we hate it, harse words we use everyday.
We say that we can erase the slate,
But this is not true because often it is too late.

We say that life is just a bowl of cherries,
Yet if this were true our life would not be merry.
A bowl of cherries does not last long,
So as soon as the cherries were eaten, we would soon be gone.

The media surrounds us in it's own way,
Every kid wants to join it someday.
The media got kids into smoking, each brand by name,
Newspapers, TV, and billboards are what we should blame.

If all this could change,
Life would be great for every age range.
The children in this world would be suffering not,
Their lives would not be about people being constantly shot.

We hope that we will live our lives long,
Hoping everywhere we go, that we will always belong.
Embarrassing feelings can make our stomachs turn,
But from these mixed thoughts and feelings, we can learn.
