Gratitude

by Amanda Proctor (15)

The years passed,
No thanks did I give
The one who provided,
No thanks did I give
Who twisted my emotions.
No thanks did I give

Looking back I see,
All you meant was love,
No thanks did I give
Love, the classic victim was I,
Scorned by your love.
No thanks did I give

Coming back to my soul,
Which you regularly burned
With the power of your love.
No thanks did I give
For the deeds you had done,
For the battles you had won.

The numerous scars,
Labeled on my soul.
Caused by my faults,
My wrong doings.
No thanks did I give
The never-ending apologies,

Now it is all suddenly clear,
Without a shadow of doubt.
The one who was at fault,
The one who had the power.
Was not the victim of hurt, it was you.
No thanks will I give.
