Grandpa's eyes are a cloudy, murky grey
His grandchildren play by his feet contently
Young infants beginning the cycle Grandpa has almost completed
Too bad Grandpa's eyes are too old to see
Grandpa's hands are rough and scaly to the touch
Overworked, underpaid palms and fingers of a Mr. Fix-it-Man
That could once give soft caresses
Too bad Grandpa's arthritis has the upper hand
Grandpa's ears have heard many secrets told
He's heard giggles and laughter of children at play
Ears that would listen to all fears and tears
Too bad Grandpa's ears rely on hearing aids
Grandpa's back is hunched and weak
Years of strain, too much wear and tear
He would carry anything except for grudges
Too bad Grandpa's bound to his wheelchair
Grandpa's life was an inspiring journey
He could write a book about back in the day
All about his life long memories
Too bad Grandpa's Alzheimer's stole them all away
