Good-Bye

Good-bye old friend
I try to smile through the tears
And wave
Good-bye

Remembering the great times
That we shared
Long hours in conversation
Joking and laughing
Discussing hopes and dreams
No longer with each other
Because We Had to Say
Good-bye

As I trace the face on your picture
I think of what more our friendship
Could have been
Would have been
Too Late

I should have said what I felt
But Fear gripped my soul
As it does now
Only more extreme
For I fear
That I had to say Good-bye
Too Soon

As I see you one last time
I close my eyes
And whisper to myself
In a choked breath
Good-bye best friend
Good-bye
