From Beginning to End

by Dennis Donovan (16)

Clouds break and spread light from the east,
bringing forth morn.
God's candles are blown out by the anxiousness of daybreak,
and birds chirp to awaken life.
A soft breeze sways the branches
and blows through the open portal to the outside,
awakening citizens gently, like a mother to a child.
As the hands circle the face,
the great light moves along,
burning brightly in the heavens.
But then dusk approaches, dragging darkness behind it.
God paints the sky as the ball of fire heads westward,
the beautiful colors putting everyone in awe.
Finally, night comes.
The world is in slumber,
looking up at the stars from their beds,
as the moon shines from above.
