Fire in Your Eyes

by Talia Ferguson (14)

If my love for you
were a winding river wide and blue
It couldn't compare to the blue in your eyes,
Far and few have those eyes of enticing blue

The gentleness that I see there
The fire in them like a tiger's stare
The mischief lurking just behind
The sight of intelligence and time
The world of life so new and deep
that you dream about in your sleep.

Oh pray I ask you let me be in that world, too,
Don't push away my love as you so often do
I've always been here to soften your fall
for no one else came when you called

I see through my childlike eyes
that you've taken me to a world of defiance and lies,
Don't you know it hurts like hell when you treat me like you do
Because you know I'd get water from the moon for you

My heart and soul cry out to you,
I wish you knew the things you do,
Can't you see i'm a precious jewel
I'm not to be thrown around or put away
I'm here to shine
And so you see all I ask is
Open your eyes and see
I pray you to return the love I've given to you back to me
