A Tiny Angel

by Ashley Marshall (14)

Behind the pearly gates of heaven
there sits a little angel
brought to her death
by the hands of a drunken stranger
and she looks with sadness
down on her distraught kin
worrying the worries of mortal men
grieving her death
while her killer still draws
his alcohol-tainted breath
and with this grand system of justice we have
he will walk
and suffer no bad
nor will he ever hear the sound
of rain beating on cell walls
but his small victim will no more laugh cheerfully
or play with her dolls.
