(CZECHIA or BOHEMIA-MORAVIA)
The Czech Republic comprises the Provinces of Bohemia and Moravia from the former
Czechoslovakia. Many of the Catholics in Slovakia belong to the Byzantine Rite and
have their own jurisdiction, the Diocese of Preov. Recently, the Holy
Father created a Slovakian Byzantine Apostolic Exarchate for those of the Byzantine Rite
in the Czech Republic. It has its seat at a cathedral at Prague, the capital.
The Byzantine Mass is celebrated there and at other locations in the Republic every
Sunday.
