Reader responds to Young column on homosexuality

To the Editor,

I have been following the recent articles from Tyler Young in The News Record and felt compelled to right in my opinion. The subject of his writings have many emotional aspects.

Where do we draw the line between right and wrong? How do we discern from loving the sinner and hating the sin? I once asked someone that question and I got the answer when you move from truth to hate. I will admit to being adamantly against homosexuality.

However, that does not mean in any way that I hate anyone who chooses that. Proclaiming to be against something does not mean hate.

The Bible says that we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the darkness of this

The only thing I hate is the devil for planting the thoughts into people's minds. He is the author of confusion. It is then up to us to listen or ignore the thoughts he plants in our minds.

Besides the Bible, all we have to do is look at the issue physically. Man and women were designed to come together. Without this union, the human race would cease to exist.

Homosexuals will say that this is something they are born with, not something they choose. I myself was talking one day with a friend who is, and they asked me why I think they would purposely choose to enter into something that would bring them pain.

I can't answer that all the way. I have never claimed to know all the answers. I do know that many were led into the lifestyle through a lot of pain, usually in their childhood.

world, and against spiritual wickedness in high places. Yes, this does mean that a lot of my beliefs come from that Book that Tyler Young dared to mention in his letter.

I will get that out before moving on to anything else. I will even dare to refer to the scripture that says homosexuality is an abomination to God.

Now you are probably appalled to think that anyone would even refer to anything that may allude to hate. But it is impossible for this to be hate in any way. God is love and the Bible is God.

Therefore, nothing spoken to us in the Bible is spoken out of hate. God desires the best for all His children.

Choosing to go out of His plans only brings hurt and pain.

Perhaps a little boy was severely and emotionally hurt by his mother or another woman. In his eyes then, women may equate pain.

God is the only one that can change people's minds. God can also work through us if we allow Him to. Love can bring about so much more than name calling and bashing can do.

Pain is the probable reason why people make this choice, so more pain isn't going to help anything. Just remember, "there but for the grace of God, go I."

(Todd's note: Like Tyler Young, this writer spins a number of spurious speculations about why someone would "chose" homosexuality that have been known to be false for over a generation. Obviously gay people do not choose their sexual orientation. Notice that her major is Pre-Social Work. The American Association of Social Workers, in addition to the American Medical Association, the American Psychiatric Association, the American Psychological Association, and the American Academy of Pediatrics have all taken the professional position that homosexuality is not chosen, not changeable, not a mental disorder, and that so called "conversions therapy" not only does not work, but for many has proved to be harmful. If you can imagine what an African-American would feel like if you doggedly insisted that it was OK to discriminate against them because they choose to be black, then you understand how gay people feel about people like Tyler Young and Angela Howe.)
