It was disappointing to read, "feedback:
Gay marriage brouhaha"[March 29, 1997].
I wish that the psychological issues raised by comparing the intimate
relations between humans to sex with animals could be adequately addressed
by a letter to the editor (although I do appreciate deadpan sarcasm). What
concerned me most were the "religious" responses.
It is difficult to question a persons religious beliefs without evoking
an emotional response. It is also impossible to disprove a religious viewpoint.

It is therefore unfortunate that gay people, trying to live ordinary everyday lives, automatically come into conflict with people who choose to believe that being gay is unnatural, a choice, or sin.
I am gay, so it is obvious to me that these are lies. But many choose to believe it, as Issue 3 demonstrated. If the
local papers would have printed my wedding announcement like any other,
I would have submitted it.
Unfortunately, this is one of many "special rights" which gay people
are denied. Since many choose to interpret the Bible literally, and since
the Bible literally decrees death for gay people, I wonder about the goals
of a religious community which discourages monogamous relationships among
gay people.
