Groups declare open season on Christians

The Oct. 15 Letter to the Editor from Richard A. Busemeyer, "Rage and hate" was close to laughable if the subject was not so serious.

The article and some members of the national media have placed the tragic death of Matthew Shepard as the responsibility of Christians, because we object to the "gay" agenda in this country. Does this make us "anti-gay?" The objection is to only the chosen lifestyle of the gay person, not the person themselves.

Jesus Christ teaches all us to hate the sin, not the sinner. I have an obligation as a Christian to root out all types of sexual sin in my

heart, be it lust, pornography, and yes, a homosexual lifestyle; just as vigorously as I would root out greed, racism or other sins. Without a shred of evidence or honesty, the blame is placed on the group that is the easy target, the group no one wants to defend, the group that makes most people uncomfortable; Christians only want to promote an atmosphere of hope and healing to our gay and non-gay friends. We condemn violence in any form but are saddened by the lack of outrage when, we (Christians) are "open season" by groups that take the opposite views.
