I have varied experience as a health care consultant, Lotus Notes developer, Web developer, and technical writer. I am also fluent in German.

Work Experience

Kaiser Permanente, National Clinical Systems: Pasadena, CA. Senior Business Analyst. December, 1998 - Present.

Functioned as project lead on multiple systems and was responsible for deliverables, budgets, and business cases for those systems. Worked with clients on both mainframe and client/server applications to gather requirements, analyze, program, and implement various software packages including:

  • Deployed a region-wide Cardiology application and assisted in developing a Web-based front end which was rolled out successfully during 2nd quarter 2000. Developed a Web-based (JAVA) patient tracking system for the Emergency Rooms which was rolled out successfully region wide.
  • Developed a reporting solution for the immunization tracking system using Business Objects and DB2 Connect.
  • Developed a real-time HL7 interface between the in-house immunization tracking system and the county immunization registry.
  • Developed multiple interfaces between client/server applications and mainframe databases using MQ Series, TCIB for CICS, and CAI interface engines.
  • Developed and wrote business cases to request funding from national levels for divisional and local projects.
  • Lead the Y2K team for the Patient Care Services department. All systems (35+) successfully rolled to 1/1/2000.

Kaiser Permanente, Clinical Systems, California Division: Walnut Creek, CA. Implementation Project Manager. March, 1998 - December, 1998.

Responsible for implementing new software throughout the division. Lead multiple projects that were accomplished on time and within budget. Coordinated with local, divisional, and national IT resources to complete installations and successfully turn over support responsibilities. Projects included Java-based, Web-enabled software, as well as client-server, and mainframe systems.

Kaiser Permanente, Clinical Systems, California Division: Walnut Creek, CA. Senior Business Analyst. July, 1997 - March, 1998.

Worked as part of the South Bay Distributed Computing Infrastructure Implementation Team. Developed and maintained intranet Web pages for the division, as well as for individual doctors. Developed a Notes-based helpdesk application for the local helpdesk. Worked with divisional Vice President to develop an in-house "University." Wrote business cases to request funding from divisional IT groups for local projects. Lead special projects as assigned by the Project Manager including:

  • Surveying workstations and drops.
  • Scheduling deployment of 3000+ PCs.
  • Working with local Data Processing departments to resolve issues.
  • Tracking 1997 project expenses and budget.
  • Assisting in developing 1998 budget.
  • Writing policies and procedures.

Science Applications International Corporation: Walnut Creek, CA. Senior Technical Writer. November, 1995 - July, 1997.

Provided documentation and editorial services for the Kaiser Permanente Distributed Computing Infrastructure Team. Developed and maintained Notes-based project tracking, inventory control, and library applications. Wrote and tested many documents including:

Castle Rock Consulting Group: Concord, CA. Lead Technical Writer. July, 1994 - November, 1995.

Led the Technical Documentation Team at CRCG. Wrote a 400+ page policy, procedure and training manual for a northern California medical foundation. Developed and wrote additional documentation detailing various medical foundations' computer system customizations. Wrote 30+ page user manuals for customers purchasing CRCG propriety software. Managed the DRG Audit and Revenue Enhancement Program which included eight acute care hospitals. Responsible for management of client relations, management reporting, system development and systems supervision. Provided support for many CRCG projects. Created test scripts and assisted in writing system specification matrices for a system interface and implementation project at a large Nevada hospital using a CAI interface engine. Performed QA (both white and black box) for several projects.
