San Diego

I tend to listen to the radio a lot, to keep me from going insane at work and to find out what's going on in the world. One of the best Stations around here is Star 100.7 . They play pretty cool music from the 80's and 90's (that seems to be what's hot now anyway) plus they will give almost any new artist a chance and let the listeners vote. The morning show is better, much better than Jeff and Jer (the competition).(But to give Q106 it's due, I listen to them more at work than I do Star, Q106 has more variety that keeps me awake =). (but now I get to complain because for some reason the stations switch and Jeff and Jer are now on Star and Dave Smiley is on Q106).

Other San Diego stations range from alternative (91X and 92.5) to classic metal (105.3) to dance/hip-hop Jammin' Z90 and country (which I don't bother to listen to). We also have our fair share of "easy listening" stations. And now there's a new station at 93.3, but they don't put out enough wattage, which really sucks, because IMHO they are a great station.

The other great thing about music is that it is available everywhere. My all-time favorite station, 102.7 KIIS-FM from LA is available on RealAudio, so I get to listen whenever I want.

Salem/Portland

As far as music goes I listen to Portland's Z100 (top 40), 107.5 The Beat ("80's and more"), Rosie 105.1(80's and 90's),  and Jammin' 95.5 (R&B) (seems like every city has a Jammin' station). I also tend to listen to KLove, a Chrisitan station that needs a lot more variety. If you know of any gospel stations in the Portland/Salem area, PLEASE let me know.

If you want more info you can go to Timecast and do a search. There are a lot of stations out there and a fair number use RealAudio for live broadcast over the net.

You can download RealAudio from their site.
