Textbooks
Some textbooks
are issued to students on free loan from the state. Normally these books
are
expected to last five
years. It will be necessary to charge a fee if books are lost or damaged
beyond normal wear. We encourage you to help
your child protect the textbooks assigned to him/her.
Textbooks are used as
a resource to the curriculum and are not always issued to every student.
If
your child is given an
assignment that requires a book, the teacher will allow him/her to bring
the book home. Competencies from the NC Standard
Course of Study determine the curriculum rather than the
textbook. Monies are used to purchase other resource materials as well
as textbooks. This decision is made from an
instructional basis rather than lack of money to purchase a textbook for
every child in every subject area.
