The Violet Alcove

Self perceived as The Center of the Universe is an irritant to the Natural flow of events that surround us. Nature has conscience. A conscience entity will seek to rid itself of irritants. Interupting the natural flow of events around us is calling upon Nature to take a destructive notice of us. Nature will respond by ridding itself of the irritant by adjusting the flow of events.

Shovelling sand against the tide is a futile exercise. It is an apt analogy for those who think themselves greater than the other beings around them. You might argue that some beings have altered history, and therefore must have been greater than others. However, closer inspection will often reveal that circumstances beyond the being's control vaulted it into a position of prominence.

Each of us is a part of the Natural flow of events. We can ride with the flow, or we can attempt to force our Will to be the controlling agent. Experience will teach, one way or the other, that our Will cannot be forced onto the Natural flow of events for too long before we are beaten back. Our individual Power is not to determine the course of events, but to ride the flow and meet the challenges we are presented with.

When we give up our Will to Her, when we acknowledge in our hearts that we are not in control -- then it is that She rewards us with what we truly need. If we need to know the direction the Flow is taking, we need only listen to The Divine inside of us. She will let us know if we quiet our ego and listen. We have no idea of what is in store for us, and we do not need to know. We have only to be ready.

Or maybe it is as Ralph Waldo Emerson said in his time...

There is guidance for each of us, and by lowly listening, we shall hear the right word.
