The Rose Alcove

We are forever searching to know our Self. There seem always to be unanswered, even unspoken Questions in our Soul. We do not need to find all of the answers to reach Self-Understanding. Our spiritual growth depends on our acceptance of ourselves as beings with unanswered questions. It is knowing that when Answers do come, they come a little at a time so we can absorb them - not all at once so that they burn us out.

When we are ready to accept an Answer, it will come to us as a gift of Enlightenment. Sometimes the Answer will bloom within us, as a flower in a Spring meadow, without our even knowing we had the Question within us. Other times we will toil long and hard, search far and wide and be on the virge of giving everything up when all of our difficult travels will come to a well-deserved and monumentous discovery. Whichever course an Answer takes is not up to us - it is in Her domain.

Patience is a virtue that is never sought. Patience is not glamorous, nor is it exciting. It seems almost like a punishment at times. But Patience shows a Love of Self that is healthy. If we can be patient with ourselves, we have reached an understanding of acceptance with ourselves - and with our Questions. It is also because we trust Her to bestow the Gift of Enlightenment upon us at just the right time to Understand - and to Accept.

We never need fear the Questions in our Soul.

Or perhaps, as Omar Khayyam wrote so eloquently in the 11th Century . . .

But leave the Wise to wrangle, and with me
the Quarrel of the Universe let be:
And, in some corner of the Hubbub coucht,
Make Game of that which makes as much of Thee.
