Act I, Scene iii

A street in Rome. A storm is raging. Casca meets Cicero.

Cicero: Good evening, Casca. Have you taken Ceasar home? Why are you out of breath? Why are you staring?

Casca: Why are you upset when there is a storm as if you fill that you are not safe. Oh, Cicero, I've seen storms wehre the winds have blown down trees. I've seen the ocean grow angry where it has violent waves that frighten you as much as the clouds. But untill tonight, until now, I have never saw a storm with meteors falling from the sky. Either the gods are fighting or either they are mad at someone on earth to make them send down destruction.

Cicero: Why? Did you see anything else that was strange?

Casca: There was an ordinary slave those hand bursted into flames and burned like 20 torches and yet his hand remained normal. Near the Capitol I met a lion who looked upon me, and went right by without annoying me. Then 100 ghastly women shore they saw men all in fire, walk up and down the streets. These are signs saying something bad is going to happen Cicero. Strange things happen but it is interpretted in different ways. Comes Caesar to the Capitol tomorrow?

Casca: He does tell Antonius to send word to you that he would be there tomorrow.

Cicero: Good night, don't go outside in this bad whether

Casca: C-ya, Cicero.

*Exit Cicero. Enter Cassius

Cassius: Who's there?

Casca: A Roman

Cassius: Casca, by your voice

Casca: You can hear well, Cassius, what is tonight?

Cassius: For an honest man, a pleasing night

Casca: Whoever knew that the heavens could be so distracting

Cassius: Those that know of all of earths mistakes. For my part, I have walked in the streets at night with no shirt one and showed my chest to the lighting. When the ligthning struck I showed the heavens my chest.

Casca: Why did you tempt the heavens? It is a part of man to fear and tremble when thge gods send signs to scare us.

57. By nature men are afraid.

58. When the most powerful gods send deadly signs to frighten us.

Cassius: You stupid Casca, and the lightening. Lighting should be in a Roman's heart, but its not in your heart. You look like you've seen a ghost. Your look is fearful, but also curious to see the lightening. But consdier that the gods have made all these odd things happen to give us warning to soemthing big that will happen. Name for me a man that you know that does for the world all these signs. Who is not unlike us, but is to be feared as the weather is to be feared.

Casca: You speak of Ceaser.

Cassius: I could be, It might not be. Because Romans have become weak. Because Romans grown under the present conditions. I know where I stick this dagger then. I, Casius will deliver myself from slavery. You gods mak the weak strong, and defeat the tyrants. Not a tower of stone, walls of Brass, an airless Dungeon, or strong iron links can hold in the strength of spirt. Even though you may be in all these things, you have the power to kill yourself. I can take my life at my own well.

Casca: I also can. So every man has the power to take their own lives.

Cassius: So why should Caeser be a bully. Poor man! He is only a bully because he sees that the Romans are easily taken. He would not be abrute if the Romans were not weak. To start a fire you need some dried up sticks. How pathetic Rome is, but oh no, why have you let me talk like this? Perhaps I am saying to much, if that is so I am dead, but I am not afraid of danger.

Casca: You are only speaking to me, I wont tell. If you will begin changing things I will go with you.

Cassius: There it is settled. I have already assembled a group of the noblest Romans to start the changes but for the good of the people. They are going to meet me on Pompey's teater, on his proch. There is nobody out and the sky looks fearsome.

Casca: Hide for a moment, there is soemone coming, they look like they are in a hurry.

Cassius: It is Cinna, I can tel by the way he walks, he is a friend.

Cinna: Who is that? Metellus Cimber?

Cassius: No, its Casca. He has joined our group. Are they waiting for me, Cinna?

Cinna: I am glad this night is scary, already a couple of us have seen some strange things.

Cassius: You dont wait for me?

Cinna: Yes I am Cassius, get Brutus to come to the party.

Cassius: Be happy. Cinna grab this paper and put it on the judges desk so only Brutus can find it. Throw this in the window. Set this in the statue, after all of this is done come back here and we will be waiting for you. Is Decius an d Trobunius there?

Cinna: Metalallus Cimber is looking for you. I will do what you told me to do with these papers.

Cassius: After you know what to do, return to Pompey.

Casca:Lets go we can spend the day together. Brutu is at home. After we see each other again and the work is done then Brutus is ours.

Casca: He is in our hearts, although it seems like we are committing a crime. We do support him more than anything.

Cassius: He is worth a lot to us because he understands. Lets go, its late. When he awakes our task will be completed.
