Kathryn Janeway lay on her bed, trying to sleep when she once more wondered what in the world her Commanding officer was up to. Each day after his shift was over he would practically scamper off the bridge to his reserved holosuite.
"What the heck is he up to?" she muttered to herself again. Kathryn could understand the need to relax inside there but this had been going on for nearly four months now and it was quite odd. They still acted the same to a degree: ate dinner on occasion, talked about work around the ship but now he seemed so happy.
*Maybe he's acting out an erotic fantasy each day and that's why he's so much more relaxed? Damn. I'll never sleep now that this is in my brain.* Her own thoughts rang insistently in her head. Did she dare breech his confidence and see what the heck he was doing? She fought down the quiver of jealousy that drilled into her brain.
"No," her stomach clenched and she forced herself to try to sleep, "it doesn't matter if he has an entire collage of naked woman all serving his beck and call." And she gritted her teeth and turned over, punching the pillow into submission.
Sleep took it's sweet time in claiming her and when Kathryn finally dreamed it was of her standing outside a huge tent, watching shadows of what looked like a harem of women dancing seductively before the silhouette of a man.
The next day on the bridge, the Captain walked in, told everyone she was in her ready room and dashed in before the Commander even arrived. Even Tuvok was surprised but as always, held his tongue until he could meet quietly with her later on. This was the forth day in a row in which she'd pulled this stunt.
Forty very quiet minutes later, Chakotay was shifting in his seat for the fifth time. Her seat was empty still. Not even the barest dent in it to say she'd even bothered to place her butt there. Why do I get the feeling she's avoiding me? Oh, Kathryn. I wish I could tell you... show you... He tried to focus once more on the view screen that displayed nothing but endless space.
He'd give her a short while longer and then go to her.
A few feet away, Kathryn once more adjusted her body to the long sofa in her room. Catching a few winks of sleep, she managed to ease some of the tensions that had followed her into work today. Luckily, this time she did not dream.
Thirty minutes later, her door chimed. Kathryn took a few seconds to respond. Bet I know who that is, she thought. "Come in."
The door admitted Chakotay into her ready room. For a second he stood just inside as he saw that the lights were dimmed and Kathryn was laying on her sofa. "Why, Captain, this is a first. I don't think I've ever seen you sleeping in here."
His smile took over the inside of the darkened room. Even standing at such a distance his aura affected her. Damn, that smile! "Computer, lights at full capacity. Commander, what can I do for you?" She stayed laying down still in her waking mode.
He walked the remaining distance and sat down on the spot where her feet did not reach. Chakotay noticed that she'd removed her shoes and her dainty little feet, which were tucked inside her Starfleet socks smelled nice. He was sure she used some kind of foot cream. Not something most people would notice but every nuance of this woman was imprinted in his brain. The scent of her personal perfume and the fact that she wore a flowery scented shampoo that, when her hair was just washed, tickled the nose.
"Well, Kathryn. I was wondering if you would like to chat. For some reason, I get the impression that you are avoiding me. Is this true?"
Groan! He would hit the nail right on the head. No, Kathryn, don't tell him. That's a direct order, woman! Her thoughts clamored for attention and it was several seconds and deep breaths before she even thought to answer. "Um. What?"
Chakotay nearly laughed out loud. His always talkative lady was suddenly holding her tongue? Now he was sure. "Come on, Kathryn, talk to me," he requested as he nudged her foot with his large hand. "Or perhaps, you'd first like a big cup of coffee to wake you up completely?"
Her eager nod once more produced that smile of his, Chakotay walked over to the replicator. "One cup of hot Columbian coffee. Black, no sugar." It's scent wafted back seconds before he ever made it to the sofa. Kathryn's mouth was watering by the time he handed it to her.
"Ah. You know my weakness, Commander," and proceeded to gulp down every drop. He remained silent at his end of the cushion all the while. Every now and again his big hands would spread out and rub softly against his thigh.
Kathryn's peripheral vision didn't miss a single movement. Once the liquid was finished off, the cup placed on the table before them did Janeway finally completely sit up. In the process of putting her shoes back on did he once more try to find out what was worrying her.
"Captain, you made me ship's counselor and I know something is on your mind. Please share." Or I'll do this the Maquis way, he fiendishly thought.
Her eyes met his just as she finished with her shoe and darned if she didn't for a second consider telling him. She gave a very unladylike snort and responded, "Commander, if something were bothering me would I not be this first person on your doorstep? Besides, whatever gave you that impression?"
Playing hard to get, huh? Ok, Kathryn, two can play this game. "Well, considering that I just caught you practically snoring away and you have run into this room three days in a row long before I arrive for my shift and leave it way after I have left. Now," he slid over and then leaned his face near hers until his nose was five inches away from hers, "talk. Or I'll..." The threat was left hanging between them.
Kathryn's eyes opened wide and she couldn't believe this. So with total disregard to whatever would come out of this, she leaning in another inch. "Or you what, mister? You know I don't take demands very well. Besides, I dare you."
Chakotay liked what was happening. She'd played right into his plan, her ire was up and so was the will to fight. He saw the way her nostrils flared and could see her pupils dilate. "You dare me?"
"I double dog dare you, Commander," her chin tilted as her challenge fell like a metal gauntlet before them.
They were now breathing each others air and barely more than three inches stood between their mouths touching. He watched her lashes and decided there was nothing more beautiful than the way they curled.
Oh Spirits, you do know how to tempt me, don't you? he thought and continued with his plan. "I'll do something so evil, you'll wish you'd never gotten out of bed this morning."
"Promises, promise. Take your best shot."
And so he did.
If Kathryn had expected him to finish those three inches and kiss the daylights out of her, she was mistaken. Instead, she saw when his left hand came up, cradled her face into his palm and felt his thumb curl itself into the dip where her lower lip and chin met.
A subtle caress that stretched throughout all that skin made her insides melt. Nothing had been so erotic and it was merely a finger.
What was this man, in his complete sexual self, capable of? The mere thought had Kathryn nearly falling off her sofa.
"C-Chakotay ... what are yo--?" the words ended when his thumb played back and forth for several long seconds over the entire mouth.
Words dissolved when pure molten lava pooled inside her body and she closed her eyes when it became too hard to keep them open. Her body began to shiver softly and he felt it since he was so near. "Please."
"Oh, Kathryn. This is merely the beginning. Someday, I hope to hear you say that to me again and when that moment comes, I won't deny either one of us." And then his hand left and the emptiness was near impossible to bear.
She felt him getting up from the sofa and opened her lashes to see him as he walked over to the doors. He turned back and she could see that she was not the only one affected. This man had a definite erection. Oh, even from that distance there was no denying the powerful need he carried for her. "If you want me to apologize for this, I won't. Besides, you dared me."
Kathryn's reaction was a surprise. She laughed and said, "And I don't know how I'll sleep tonight. You win. I'll talk. If the Cardassians had used you as a weapon, the Federation would have collapsed!" He shared in her laughter and walked over to her desk, needing a few minutes for his hard on to settle down before walking out.
"So are you willing to now tell me?"
Sitting in her own seat she looked at him. Talk about stubborn. "Ok, I'll give. Yes, I have been avoiding you. And yes, it's due to my wondering what the hell is so interesting for you in the holosuite. I've noticed that you've been in there every day after your shift for the last four months." There, take that!
She could see the shutter fall in his eyes and for the quickest of seconds wished she'd kept her mouth shut. "See, Commander, that's why I wasn't going to tell you. I know it's private and there's no reason for you to even answer me."
His hand came up and ended her outburst, a weight seemed to be off his shoulders. Chakotay's eyes no longer held that look as he answered her. "No, Kathryn, you have every right to know. I don't want any secrets between us. It's nothing bad, believe me. No, better yet... come by after this shift is over. I think it's time I share this with you."
Kathryn gritted her teeth, "Don't invite me merely because you might be feeling I've forced you into this."
His left eyebrow arched and he gave her an even look, "Believe me, Kathryn, not even the threat of torture can force me to not do something I've not already wanted to do. Unless, you were my tormentor and then, that might be an interesting idea." He had the gall to wink at her before getting up for the seat and walking to the doors once more. "Tonight."
Her cheeks were still blushing from that last comment as she followed him out the door.
Hours later, she was in her bathroom quarters, freshly showered and having changed into a very comfortable pair of civilian clothes when her door chimed. "Enter," she yelled out just before applying a bit of red lipstick.
Inside walked the Commander. Following her voice he stood near the foot of her bed, looking into the bathroom area to where she was barely visible. He also had changed and the room was filled with the musk cologne he'd put on especially for her.
"Chakotay, I wasn't sure if I'm dressed correctly. You haven't told me what to expect." She exited the bathroom and barely had time to register him when he walked over to her and took her hand in his large one and walked them out of her quarters.
She looked good enough to eat and having her, all alone and dressed so nicely, so close to her bed was enough to immediately have an effect on him. They continued holding hands, uncaring of who walked past them as they made their way to the holosuite. "Please, Kathryn. I truly hope this isn't too much of a surprise to you."
He's nervous? Hm. This was new. She barely suppressed a giggle.
Finally they stood before the doors and he gave his voice command and which program he desired to run. When the computer acknowledged and let them enter, Kathryn was pleasantly happy to see there wasn't a single tent or a harem of women in sight. In fact, if her memory served correctly, it looked like his home world. In it's time, this planet had been a gorgeous land, rich in its people and their culture. As far as her eye could see there was vast growing terrain and the sky above was clear and enticing.
"This was my planet before everything happened. I re-created it and it's helped me with my loneliness at times of stress. I would come here to mediate. But in the last four months I added a new feature. Come on." He tugged on her hand, which he still had not released, and took her over a small hill to their right.
At the foot of the hill was where she saw the house that was there, it's features were simple but elegant. A true work of architectural art with at least two windows in each wall and colorful flowers of great beauty living in ceramic pots right on their ledges. The outside was painted a beige color trimmed with soft red colored tile brinks on the roof and the door was a brick red that matched it nicely. There were at least four rooms and the smells of food drifted from inside. There was a small well tended garden off to one side and a lovely variety could be seen even from the front gate where they had stopped.
Chakotay gulped once, proceeded up and opened the door. They stood in the living room and it was furnished with what looked like hand made furniture and delicate intricate Indian motifs and also a touch of what looked like a woman's touch here and there. A bright flower in a vase atop the table, a small collection of hair pins on a bureau by the closest wall.
"I'm home." His voice carried around the large room and his grip tightened on her hand. He could feel her tensing suddenly.
A female voice answered from where the kitchen seemed be. "Oh, my love. I've been so busy. You know I was trying to make your favorite dish and it kind of came out as you told me it was. But you'll need to taste it to let me know if all the spices are right." The woman was beautiful in her radiance, her long hair fell all the way down to the small of her back, wore a dress and apron that brought out the lovely color of her eyes and she was fat!
No, not fat. With child, at least four months along if Kathryn wasn't mistaken.
Kathryn's jaw could not fall any further when she looked on at no one else but her own holo image. "Oh. My. God." Her eyes were still glued to the other woman. This was hardly what she had expected.
"Computer, pause program." Chakotay said and waited. The beaming holo image stopped right in its tracks, the beautiful welcoming smile still on its lips and the blue eyes gleaming with cheer.
The real Kathryn walked closer. Her eyes took in every detail: the way some long wisps of hairs curled around her neck; the beautiful, yet delicately formed wedding ring on her left hand; those similar blue eyes that mirrored her own but held such a happiness in them that it was nearly overwhelming to view. The tip of her nose and the curves of her cheels were a bit sunburned as if this character was out working in the garden during the day. Then she looked at the curvy tummy and tenderly placed her hand over it. That's when hot tears filled her eyes.
She turned to Chakotay and waited for his answer.
"Kathryn. I meant no disrespect for using your image. But once I had created my home world, the only way it felt complete was if I had placed you in it. I made her exactly like you, except for her hair. Always wanted to know how you'd look with your hair that long and then added the pregnant feature because," he took in a deep, harsh breath, "it's something of a dream I've held since I first met you. Every night I would imagine what living with you and having you carry my child would be like. And for the past four months, it's been like living in paradise."
He stepped closer to her and was happy to see that she didn't break the distance by walking away. "I didn't think I could share a life with you in real life . Each day after having you sitting near me on the Bridge, I come here and live out that bit of the dream in which I can have you not being my Captain, but instead just ... loving me for me. As I do you."
By now her tears had begun to streak down her face, soaking into her shirt and without a second thought to whatever challenges stood before them, she threw herself into his strong arms.
Her breasts were pressed hard to his chest and she sniffed once before whispering, "I'd prefer you live out that dream than be within a holosuite forever." She hiccupped and gave him a crooked smile, "Let's work towards it and we together can make this a reality."
So this is what Heaven is like? Thank you, Spirits. Thank you. he thought and held her tightly to him.
They whispered "I love you" to each other before he claiming her mouth in a warm kiss.
The end.
