S K IYER
Hidden between the leaves, I yearned to
see the light of the day,
The day of my blossoming into this world,
mind full of blissful aroma,
The aroma only zephyr can spread, announcing
my unfolded beauty,
In the solitude, behind the leaves, I
yearned for a kiss of breeze.
Even the bright sun failed, to pierce
through the breach of the leaves,
Yet I could feel the rays of love, and
could see my clan dancing to the tune of breeze.
Nor the spring's sprinkles could reach
me, to adorn my petals with pearls of dew,
Stood I tranquilized, shade of leaves
splashing all over me.
"Oh God, when I'll see the world of light,
when I'll swim in the ocean of breeze,
Who'll be there to notice my beauty, how
cruel is Mother Nature to me."
My prayer didn't go astray; the leaves
couldn't stand the heat of the sun's rays,
The weary leaves fell aside, parting the
way for me to the world of light,
From the shade of obscurity, to the horizons
of free air,
I came out triumphantly, to make me lovable
by all.
