Sky reside in paradise

By JANE STEVENSON -- Toronto Sun

If you like your pop music polished and smoothed with plenty of R & B and dance influences, then the major label debut of this Montreal duo is for you.
James and Antoine, who go by just their first names, are two songwriters, producers and multi-instrumentalists that met at engineering school in Montreal seven years ago.
Now they've got an impressive debut album, which hits stores Tuesday, bolstered by a huge first single, the catchy -- if irritatingly boppy -- Some Kinda Wonderful, which is a Top Five single in Canada and a Number One hit in Thailand. The accompanying video was also apparently the longest running video of 1998 at MuchMusic. Did I mention this band is popular?
Personally, I prefer Sky's less accessible material. The songs that are sexier, moodier and harder-edged like You And I, Shave, I Will Survive and Powder.
For those of you wanting more of the Some Kinda Wonderful variety, check out America, Love Song, the album's second single, and Last Time I Saw You. -Or if Backstreet Boys ballads are your thing, you'll eat up All I Want. -High hopes are obviously being placed on this duo, who first came out with a five-song EP in 1997.
Their album was produced by Peter Mokran (Maxwell, R. Kelly, Michael Jackson) in Toronto and Euro-Syndicate Productions, whose members include the Berman Brothers (She Moves, Hanson, Real McCoy), in New York City.
