Loreto Founded in 1697 by the Jesuit Father Juan Maria Salvatierra, the mission of Loreto was the very first one in Baja California. Loreto was the former capital of the Californias until it was destroyed by a hurricane in 1829 (you can get more info about Loreto in the "lonely Planet" guide) |
