The Old Hollow Tree

Abandoned,
far away from everywhere
there's a small lake
with a giant tree in the middle.

The tree is dark
and has no leaves,
for it's abandoned
and has no one to please.

It's long branches,
high and proud,
are bent and crumpled
and don't have the slightest green.

The tree is hollow
for it has no love,
it's love's been taken
by lonelyness and hate.

Alone, alone,
the tree stands.
Alone, alone,
quiet and sad.

The tree is dying
it has no hope at all,
it was all stolen
by the time that takes us all.

Inside the tree,
a song echoes forever,
it's a song of glee
and of love gone forever.
