In a given geographical area, such as East Toronto, the active ministers and a representative elder from each local congregation, form what is called a "Presbytery". Ministers who are retired, serving at theological colleges, or (MORE ...)

As do most other Protestant Christians, Presbyterians believe that your eternal salvation does not depend upon what you say or do, or upon your works. Your sins, shortcomings, and failures, have already been forgiven, and paid for, by Jesus and his sacrifice on the Cross, and God has accepted that. Your salvation is thanks to God's grace and love freely given to you. You are invited and challenged to accept that gift and to have faith. You can have faith in God.

How should we live out our lives? Like other Christians, Presbyterians believe that
in the Bible we find uniquely authoritative teachings and inspiration for how we ought to live our lives.

People in the community are open-minded, friendly and spirited, cooperative and very dedicated. Gateway (more...)

And in Jesus Christ His only Son our Lord, Who was conceived by the Holy Ghost, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and buried; He descended into hell. The third day He rose again from the dead; He ascended into heaven, and sits on the right hand of God the Father Almighty; from thence He shall come to judge the living and the dead.

I believe in the Holy Ghost; the holy catholic church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting.

Amen.

The church, in its 32nd year, has a small choir and church school, celebrates communion monthly, and holds special Holy Week, Christmas, year-end, and family oriented worship experiences.

Three programs have started: The Homework Club has approximately 12 to 15 children with three to four tutors. One of the students successfully raised his grade one level on his last report card. This success is encouraging. A Parents' Day Strawberry Social was held in early May with over 25 parents and children; and everyone is looking forward to next year's event. God grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change,

the courage to change the things I can,

and the wisdom to know the difference.

 

Amen

God of my life, I welcome this new day.

It is your gift to me, a new creation,

a promise of resurrection.

I thank you for the grace of being alive this morning.

I thank you for the sleep that has refreshed me.

I thank you for this chance to make a new beginning.

This day, Lord, is full of promise and oportunity:

Let me waste none of it.

This day is full of mystery and the unknown:

Help me to face it without fear or anxiety.

This day is blessed with beauty and adventure:

Make me fully akive to it all.

During this day keep me thoughtful, prayerful and kind.

May I be courteous and helpful to others,

and not turned in on myself.

Keep me from any word or deed that would hurt,

or destroy, or belittle.

And may the thoughts of my mind be pleasing in your sight.

When night comes again, may I look back on this day

with no grievance or bitterness in my heart.

And may nobody be unhappy because of anything I have done

or anytjing I have failed to do.

Lord, bless this day for me and for everyone.

Make it a day in which we grow to have the mind of Christ, your Son.

Lord Jesus Christ, friend and brother,

may we know you more clearly,

love you more dearly,

and follow you more nearly, day by day. Amen.

 

Thank you, Lord, for the day that has passed.

Thank you too for your love and protection.

Forgive us for any wrong we have done this day.

Forgive us if we have been bad tempered or hard to live with.

Forgive us if we have hurt those we should love.

Forgive us for any word of comfort or praise or thanks

which we might have spoken and did not speak.

Forgive us for any help we might have given to someone in need

and did not give.

Lord, we pray tonight for all men and women; for the believer

 

and the unbeliever; for those who are trying to find you; and

for those who are trying to ignore you.

Bless those who are lonely, and who feel their loneliness worst of

all at evening time.

Bless those who are old or sick, or who will not sleep tonight.

Bless all homes and families, and bless those who have no homes of their own.

Give us all restful sleep, and the peace of heart that comes from knowing

that our sins are forgiven, and that we are always in the hands

of our heavenly Father. Amen.
