6A. Quarter calls - East

The Quarter calls reinforce the inner rim of the circle. The Quarters are elemental forces that we call upon to support our work. To reinforce the deasil motion of the circle casting the quarters are called clockwise starting in the East.

A call to the spirit realm is a descriptive invocation or evocation.

The descriptive evocation of forces of the east could use some of these ideas: Air, the color Yellow, Intellect, Knowledge, Breath, Scent, Gaseousness, Wind, Wands, Incense, Dawn, Spring, Childhood, Sprites, Sylphs, Fairies, Pixies, Aerial, Eagle, Dove, Wren, Raven, Owl, or Cockerel.

Once the spirit of the direction is called we request their assistance in the ritual.

When we have finished our request we welcome them and signal their arrival and the completion of the call by lighting a candle and ringing a bell.

6B. Quarter calls - South

The descriptive evocation of forces of the south should use some of these ideas: Fire, the color Red, Will, Energy, Heat, the Sun, Energy, Earth's Core, Athame, Candles, Noon, Summer, Youth, Imps, Salamanders, Goblins, Dogs, Wolf, Coyote, Lion, Cats, or Fox.

Once the spirit of the direction is called we request their assistance in the ritual.

When we have finished our request we welcome them and signal their arrival and the completion of the call by lighting a candle and ringing a bell.

Living Spirit of the South, We call to you

Fiery Salamanders, Powers of Will

Wild beauty of lightning

and gentle warmth of Summer Sun

6C. Quarter calls - West

A descriptive evocation of forces of the west should use some of these ideas: Water, the color Blue, Emotion, Passion, Blood, Rain, Fluid, Ocean, Chalice, Bowl of Water, Dusk, Fall, Maturity, Undine, Nereids, Mermaids, Selkie, Nymph, Nixie, Kelpie, Naiad, Limniad, Dolphins, Whales, Frogs, Butterfly, Snake, or Salmon.

Once the spirit of the direction is called we request their assistance in the ritual.

When we have finished our request we welcome them and signal their arrival and the completion of the call by lighting a candle and ringing a bell.

Watery Selkies, Powers of Emotion

Majesty of a storm at sea

A descriptive evocation of forces of the north should use some of these ideas: Earth, the color Green, Strength, Endurance, Flesh, Soil, Solid, Rock, Pentacle, Caldron of Salt, Midnight, Winter, Old Age, Gnomes, Dryads, Elves, rownie, Kobold, Dwarf, Fawn, Satyr, Bear, Deer, Elk, Buffalo, Turtle, Bull, Boar, or Horse.

Once the spirit of the direction is called we request their assistance in the ritual.

Earthy Gnomes, Powers of Incarnation
