1. Set up Altar
1. Set up Altar
Before the ritual begins, the space must be prepared. Collect the necessary
tools and equipment. Will you need everything on the standard altar set up?
What special tools or props do you need for this particular work?
Define your ritual center. Will it be the altar, or are you working around a
bonfire? If you are going to need open space in the center, perhaps the altar
should be in the North, the East, or you get rid of the altar entirely and place
the ritual tools on the quarter shrines. The ritual center will mark the vertical
axis of the work. The magical work turns on its vertical axis.
Choose the focal point of your ritual and make it look like a focal point.
Establish the boundaries of the ritual space. Is the ritual going to be in a room,
a house, or an open field? Mark your edges.
Our Altar usually goes in the center of the Circle unless there is something else
in the center, like a bonfire, then the altar goes in the North or the East.
Wherever there is room. It is sometimes handy to know that there is a Magical
North. Magical North is the direction you decide is North when you do not
know which direction North is.
