a)facism- a political movement that belives in an extreme form of nationalism

b)authoritarian- requiring absolute loyalty and obedience to the state

c)censor- to examine prints, media and movies in order to delete, alter or ban materials

d)nazism- German facism; the doctrine of National Socialist German Workers

e)anti-Semitism- hostility or discrimination to Jews

f)concentration camp- a prison camp in which prisoners of war are held by force

g)territorial integrity- territorial domain of state

h)armed aggression- military invasion

a)Benito Mussolini- Anewspaper editor who promised to rescue Italy. Unemployed veterans listened to his promises to revive Italy’s economy and army. Eventually they formed a facist party. They began to beat up Socialists and Communists and almost took control of the gov’t. They were authoritarian and cencored everything.

b)Nazi party- Eventually Hitler formed the National Socialist German Workers party or Nazi for short. They were a type of Fascism. They adopted the Swastika for their symbol.

c) Adolf Hitler- The leader of the Nazi party. He was a war hero and won two iron crosses. He was an amazing speaker, able to rally many people. He eventually became a dictator, made Germany a totalitarian state and began the Holocaust.

d)Mein Kampf- Hitler’s book. It told of his ideas and goals andset them forth. He began by saying Germans were a master race and that Jews, Slavs, gypsies etc. were inferior and should be destroyed.

e)Lebensraum-

f)Enabling act- The passage that Hitler demanded that would give him absolute power for four years. It passed, inly one person voted nay.

g)SS- The loyal enabling force of Hitler. He eventually orderd them to destroy his enemies. Many were killed and it shocked Germany into total obedience.

h)Nuremburg laws- A special ledgislation. It prevented Jews of German citizenship. They could not fly out of the country, teach, act, work in hospitals or banks, etc. They also had to wear a yellow star on their clothes.

i)Kristallnacht- On November 9 and 10, 1938 mobs destroyed Jewish life. Nazis destroyed 7500 Jewish shops, 720 synogouges, and beat or killed many. This night was called the crystal night or the Kristallnacht. 1
