INTRODUCTION

Overview
The INSL is a soccer management game, in which you take control of a soccer club. You will need to manage your squad, pick your team and select your tactics. But you will also need to use the transfer list to buy new talent and sell your players.  All games will be simulated by using a computer based simulatator (in C++) Basically the program determines the number of shots in the game using a formula, and who scored (by comparing player attributes- speed, Skill, Off and Def.)
It also counts up Endurance levels and randomly determines injuries and cards.

Joining
-How can I get a team in the INSL?
The best time to get a team in the league is to do so between season when the league
expands or replaces managers who are not returning for the following season.  Another way to get
a team is to follow the mailing list throughout the season.  At some times it may be necessary to
replace a manager who cannot fulfil his/her duties as a manager.
To join the league check HERE.

Leaving the Game
If a manager does not turn in lineups for two (game) weeks in a row, the commissioner will, at his discretion, declare the manager "gone" and the team available for adoption.

Taking a Break
If you will be unavailable to run your team for an extended period of time, please notify the commissioner. You will be able to submit advance orders to cover your break.

REQUIREMENTS
All managers must be active!
-Please don't Join only to quit a few days later, in other words if your going to join- Join for the long run not just so you have something to do this week.
-All players must send in a report every two weeks in the mailing list

TEAMS-TRANSFERS-GAMES

-Selecting an Italian Club
The following clubs will be available......

-The Club
A club consists of 16-22 players. The Salary Cap for the first Season depends on your chosen team. The salary cap for the following years can rise or fall depending on the team's revenues (ticket revenues, players sold ect..)

-Player Transfers
There are transfer fees for picking up players from free-agency (But not trading).

TRADING PLAYERS
All that is needed to do is contact the club's manager that you wish to trade players with and work out a deal. Then inform the League Commissioner of any trade that is agreed upon .The same goes for picking up players from the Free Agents List (contact me). Please note though, all trades must be sent in by both managers involved, not just one. Afterwards I will post the trade up on the message board for all managers to review and comment on. If enough opposition (if its deemed unfair, or just stupid) is given, the trade will be VOID. Whenever trading a player, the team always has to pick up the player's current contract no matter what.

Also Big trades can improve Fanbase (new hope?) and do wonders for teams....While trading away your club's best player can result in losing some Fans.
The following can be used in a trade:
1) Players
2) Euros (in return for players or draft picks)
3) Draft picks (each team gains two new draft picks each year)
4 Any combination of the above

THE PLAYERS

THE PLAYERS
Each player is given a name, position, salary and set of attributes (Spd, Skill, Offence, Defence). Each Goal Keeper is also given a name, salary and set of attributes (agility, Skill and fitness)

ATTRIBUTES

Speed: The player's speed rating generally refers to his general speed, Acceleration and agility on the playing field.
Skill: The player's skill rating refers to the player's ball-controlling ability and overall creativity with the ball.
Offence: The player's Offensive rating refers to his shot power and accuracy, passing and heading abilities.
Defence: The player's Defensive rating refers to his defensive awareness, his ability to tackle and his overall ability to react to offensive threats.

GOAL KEEPER ATTRIBUTES

Agility: The Goal Kepper's agility rating refers to his overall speed, quickness and agility.
Skill: The Goal Keeper's skill rating refers to his reaction, defensive awareness and ball controll (hitting it away)
Fitness: The goal keeper's fitness rating refers to his overall fitness and endurance.

ENDURANCE LEVELS
Every player has an endurance level. Endurance levels are used to show the managers how over-worked their players can be. Each player's endurance level begins the season at "0" and the higher this level goes, the more there is a chance of that player getting injured.

-After playing a full match add 2 endurance points.
-After playing a match (but was substituted IN or OUT of the match) add 1 endurance point
-After not playing at all in a match subtract 6 endurance points

Once a player's endurance level reaches 30+ Endurance points, he may be prone to injury.
NOTE: It may be possible for even a player with a very low endurance level to be injured. A High Endurance level just increases the chances.

CONTRACTS
Each player must be given a contract. To sign them a contract, first decide on the number of seasons you wish the player to play for your team and multiply this by his Salary.
For example:
Manager X wants to sign Joe Black for a 3 year-deal, Black's salary is 0.7 million Euros. So the contract would be 3 years for 2.1 million Euros (paying 0.7 million a year for 3 years)

RE-Signing a player
When a player's contract is up. The manager has the choice to attempt to re-sign the player or let him go into free-agency. If he wishes to re-sign a player that has Done WELL in the season, the manager must make the player an offer at least 10% higher than his previous salary. Depending on how much more you offered him and if the team is doing good or not, he will accept or reject the offer. Managers may have up to 2 attempts to re-sign a player, then if they still fail the player will be put into free-agency. If the player did not perform as well you may continue to pay his regular salary.
For Example:
Manager X wants Joe Blow back on his team after his contract has expired. Joe Blow's previous salary was 1.2 million Euros and he is now looking for abit more after his excellent 97-98 season. Manager X offers him a 2-year deal worth 2.8 million Euros -1.4 million a season
(abit above 10% higher) Joe Blow accepts and signs the contract.

ROOKIE/YOUTH PLAYERS
Every year in the post-season, Players from Youth leagues will be drafted into the INSL. These players will not be as skilled as seasoned veterans are, but they do have the benefit of being healthier, less expansive and the chance to improve their skill alot.

The more you train (Training rules coming soon) and let rookies play in matches, the more the rookie's chances of improving are. Giving them good quality time to play is beneficial in the long-term.

OLD PLAYERS VS NEWER ONES
Young players (marked with a ^ )  have the benefit of improving their statistics, however they will make alot more Rookie mistakes and bad decisions in a game then a veteran player would.

Veteran players(marked with a -)  never make rookie mistakes and a are seasoned and hard workers, however they will never improve and infact will worsen in their statistics.

YOUTH PROSPECTS
Each club has a number of youth prospects who represent the future of that club, These players have been brought up through the ranks of the club's youth soccer school. You will never be aware of the player's stats (Speed, Skill, OFF ect..) unless you either let him play a match, in which case you will have to give him a contract (see below) or you use a scout to get his stats.

SIGNING YOUTH PROSPECTS
These prospects are all paid on an equal basis ($0.3 million a season) and do not require contracts so long as they are not called up to play a match.

However if you wish to have a youth prospect play, you must assign him a 1-year contract worth league minimum wage ($0.6 million) and you will learn his stats as soon as he has played in a match.
After his first year (his rookie year) he will want a new contract, the amount will depend on his performance and statistics.

RED AND YELLOW CARDS
In each match, Cards will randomly be given to a random number of players. Rarely will a player ever get a RED card, While Yellow cards are common.

Whenever a Red Card is issued to a player, the player will sit off the remainder of the game (and the club will play with 1 player less) and the player will also sit off the next game.

If a player Earns 3 Yellow Cards (Altogether in any amount of matches) the player will be forced to miss the next game.
